Knownfy ("we", "our", "us") operates the website knownfy.ai and the Knownfy browser extension ("Extension"). Our service helps compliance professionals analyze people and companies against official registries and international screening lists.

2. Data we collect

2.1 Website and web application

• Account information: name and email address provided during registration via Auth0.
• Usage data: reports requested, search queries (names and countries submitted for analysis).
• Payment information: processed exclusively by Stripe. We do not store card numbers or banking details.
• Session cookies: used to keep you logged in across pages.

2.2 Browser extension

• Authentication token: stored locally in chrome.storage.local on your device. Never sent to third parties.
• Analysis queries: names and entity types entered by the user in the extension form are submitted to knownfy.ai to perform the compliance analysis. This data is not stored locally beyond the active session. No data is read automatically from the page — the user fills the form manually.
• Pending job state: stored locally in chrome.storage.local to track the status of analyses you have requested.

The Extension does not collect browsing history, track visited pages, or share any data with third parties.

3. How we use your data

• To provide and improve the compliance analysis service.
• To authenticate your session and manage your account.
• To process payments through Stripe.
• To send you notifications about completed analyses (via the Extension).
• To comply with legal obligations.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only with:

• Auth0 — identity and authentication provider.
• Stripe — payment processing.
• OpenSanctions — international screening lists used for compliance analysis (query data only, no personal account data).
• Service providers under confidentiality agreements when strictly necessary to operate the service.

5. Data retention

We retain your account and report data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.

6. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@knownfy.ai.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS, encrypted storage, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

Our service is not directed to individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
